Lion's Head is a mountain in Cape Town, South Africa, between Table Mountain and Signal Hill. Lion's Head peaks at 669 metres above sea level. The peak forms part of a dramatic backdrop to the city of Cape Town and is part of the Table Mountain National Park.
The trail going up Lion’s head is a screwtop, you will be circling the mountain as you hike to the top. This means you are getting views in all directions. At a certain point the dirt path gives way to rocks and you have to step up, sometimes even use your hands to climb. Nothing hard though. This is rated an A+ hike (if taking the easy way) which means it is a very easy hike technically.
The peak is about two-thirds the height of Table Mountain. At the top you will enjoy panoramic views of Cape Town, Table Mountain, the Atlantic Ocean, Robin Island and the Western Cape mountain ranges. The hike should take about 2 hours, round trip to complete.
Remember to pack plenty of water, your camera and some snacks.
