Cape Winelands - Franschhoek
From roasting in a small shed on the family farm in the Midlands the business has grown to roasting beans in the Cape. They now distribute their signature hand-roasted coffee to restaurants, hotels, retail outlets and businesses alike all over South Africa. Their Franschhoek home has been instrumental in this growth.

There are few cafes in the world as stunning as Truth, a ‘steampunk inspired’ artisan coffee shop that is filled from top to bottom with metal piping and quirky old machinery. People don’t just flock there for the decor, the coffee is all hand roasted in a vintage cast iron drum, and the company supplies many of South Africa’s top hotels.
Like a good wine, coffees will vary slightly from harvest to harvest, depending on, amongst other factors, those of altitude, aspect, rainfall and soil .
African Roots Coffee only uses estate grown, premium grade, single origin, traceable and 100% Arabica African coffees. Region specific coffees reflect seasonal variations and subtle differences in soil, climate, topography and altitude. African Roots coffees are typically grown at high altitude. They are aimed at a sophisticated and discerning niche market. A sophisticated coffee drinker who is looking for the right balance of flavours will not be disappointed.
The coffees available are 100% Arabica which is lower in caffeine content than Robusta coffees.
The origins of their coffees is from the Eastern Highland countries, of Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda as well as Zimbabwe.
At African Roots Coffee, you can enjoy premium coffees, exceptional teas, artisanal fruit juices, locally sourced food including their signature eggs Benedict, gluten-free breakfasts, and variety of light lunches, including salads. There is also a range of cakes and pastries.
